Located on the "Delmarva" penninsula is the sleepy town
of Ridgely Maryland... home to Highland Aerosports.
Highland is a full time hang gliding school and plays host to the
East Coast Championships yearly. Much like Florida, the Delmarva
is known for it's convergent weather systems created by the penninsula.
"Where's the convergence going to setup?" is heard daily
at the pilot briefings.
Being on the Eastern Shore keeps Highland close to DC, but the
bay keeps DC away from Highland. XC flying is extremely freindly...
it's rare to find a horse fence or unlandable field. Wide open spaces
and friendly people are the norm.
Accomodations include onsite kitchen, showers, kiddie pool and
wireless internet. Plenty of camping and places to park your RV.
If you need RV hookups, there are (very) local parks. The "Slo
Horse" B&B is an extemely friendly and reasonable place
to stay also.
Check out their accomodations
page for more info.
ECC is Open Class and "Sport Class"
The Sport Class tends to be the life of the party... good ole Maryland
boys... "Go Big or Go Home!"
The BBQs aren't to be missed.
